Ecorys consultancy company, comissioned by the European Commission, has organized today in Barcelona, with the collaboration of Barcelona Clúster Nàutic, a focus group meeting for the study supporting a possible network of maritime training academies and institutes in the Mediterranean sea-basin.
The meeting, entitled “The role of clusters to promote synergies in the maritime education and training offer”, has brought together stakeholders from the education sector, the industry and decision makers at regional and local level, discussing about how different actors can or should be organized to ensure coherence between the education and training offer and the market demand in the field of maritime economic activities typically aligned with the so-called Blue Growth.
This action shows Barcelona Clúster Nàutic is acquiring external legitimization. Another example is the contacts established with the nautical cluster of New Caledonia, an archipelago of Oceania with diving and fishing as its main tourist attractions. This bridge could allow Barcelona Clúster Nàutic members study ways of collaboration with tourism businesses established there, dedicated to diving and charter, as well as opening new markets for the cruise industry.

Barcelona Clúster Nàutic participated in the latest edition of the Barcelona International Boat Show, strengthening its role as a key driver of the city’s nautical sector.
