About half of the 70 Barcelona Clúster Nàutic members have participated this morning in the briefing that the association has organized with several educational institutions in order to enhance expertise and excellence in training to generate quality employment in the marine industry in the city of Barcelona and its metropolitan area. These sessions, which have been held in the Port de Barcelona room at the World Trade Center, have been attended by Fundació BCN Formació Professional, the new Institut de Nàutica, the Facultat de Nàutica-UPC and the Universitat Abat Oliva CEU, together with the Consorci d’Educació de Barcelona and Barcelona Activa.
Promoting specialized training and testing the new professional profiles required by today's marine industry; enhancing student occupation to generate quality qualified employment and reporting on training programs and internships have been the objectives of this briefing, which have also been helpful for networking. Moreover, according to the nautical cluster, many companies do not find the professional profiles required for their vacancies.
The association has implemented on its website, www.barcelonaclusternautic.com, a job opportunity section that includes both the vacancies in the sector and a database with the candidate’s profiles.
Cinta Daudé, from Fundació BCN Formació Professional; Xavier Secall, from the Consorci d’Educació de Barcelona; Feliu López, from the new Institut de Nàutica; Santiago Ordaz, from the Facultat de Nàutica-UPC, and Olga Lasaga, from Universitat Abat Oliba CEU, have all agreed the involvement of a company in an internship program is a highly profitable investment in training.
