The Barcelona Yacht Rendezvous will be held on the evening of 8 May in the OneOcean Club at the Marina Port Vell in the form of a presentation dinner by the Seakeepers International Society for Spain's nautical and scientific community. Taking part in the event will be several members of Barcelona Nautical Cluster. Marina Port Vell will be the host, while BWA Yachting and Marina Barcelona 92 are sponsoring the event.
The Seakeepers International Society is a non-profit institution focused on the global health of the oceans and their climate. Its members make their yachts available to the scientific community for research and marine protection. In fact, the event to be held at the Marina Port Vell will serve to present Barcelona as the first Mediterranean base port for Seakeepers to host the DISCOVERY Yachts programme. This project is one of the organisation's most important initiatives related to coordinating oceanographic research activities together with vessel owners.
The Rendezvous will act as the starting pistol for many destinations of Seakeepers programmes related to oceanographic research and conservation. In addition to publicising the main achievements of the missions related to the DISCOVERY Yachts project during the last year, the dinner will also be a chance for Barcelona to present the 2015 programme.
